UB40
Edmonton got a serious dose of feel-good reggae when UB40 rolled into Midway Music Hall Tuesday night, delivering the kind of infectious rhythms, sing-along anthems and dance-floor energy that keep fans coming back for more!
With Matt Doyle, who joined as the new official lead vocalist of the touring UB40 lineup in 2021, at the helm, the legendary British reggae band showed that its unmistakable sound continues to evolve while staying true to the music that made it famous. Doyle brought his own personality to the stage, breathing fresh life into the band’s much-loved catalogue and keeping the crowd moving.
From those timeless reggae grooves to the band’s signature feel-good vibe, UB40 turned Midway into a party. And just when fans thought they knew what was coming, the band threw in a fun surprise with a cover of Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One,” giving the country-pop classic a reggae-flavoured twist!
The show wasn’t just about nostalgia, either. With new music adding another chapter to UB40’s ongoing story, the band proved there’s still plenty of life in its musical journey. It’s a reminder that great songs can cross generations, genres and borders—and sound just as good with a reggae beat.
