Bif Naked
Recovery Day Alberta brought music, community and a powerful message of hope to Sir Winston Churchill Square on September 19, and Bif Naked brought plenty of attitude to the stage.
Taking the stage as part of Edmonton’s free Recovery Day celebration, Bif delivered the high-energy performance fans have come to expect, mixing her unmistakable punk-rock edge with the warmth and honesty that have made her such a memorable Canadian performer.
Backing Bif was her powerhouse band featuring Doug Fury on guitar, Peter Karroll on bass and Chiko Misomali on drums and backing vocals, providing the driving sound behind the performance.
The set was packed with energy, attitude and plenty of crowd connection, with Bif once again showing why her songs continue to resonate with audiences decades into her career. Her recent music, including material from her Champion era, has also kept that musical fire burning.
But perhaps the most meaningful moment came before “Lucky.” Bif took time to recognize and dedicate the song to the nurses, healthcare workers and staff who have been there for people through some of their most difficult moments. Although written about her own cancer journey, it was also a heartfelt acknowledgement that connected perfectly with the spirit of Recovery Day — compassion, support, connection and the people who help others keep moving forward and healing.
During the interview, Bif expressed the importance of events like this, how they show support not only to those fighting to stay sober, but also the loved ones, family and friends. Addiction affects everyone.
Then the guitars kicked in and “Lucky” brought the emotion back into full-on punk rock mode.
Bif Naked’s Recovery Day performance was more than just another concert stop. It was a celebration of resilience, community and the power of music to bring people together — with Bif doing what she does best: turning up the volume while leaving plenty of room for heart.
Wish You Were There — bringing you closer to the music, one show at a time.
